New comment system up
Written by Edvard
Thursday, 03 June 2010 19:34

comment_stage_6 So, I have a new comment system in place. The cool thing about it is that it links up with the forums. Every new article posted here on the site also automatically gets its own forum topic and this links in with the comments.

There is one issue remaining though. Comments cannot be added directly from the article. The “add comment” button takes you to the forums. But at least showing comments works.

I will be fine tuning the system in the time to come. For now though, it will at least allow commenting to be made and spam shouldn't be a problem.

Droid XTREME leaked. Can it handle the HTC Desire?
Written by Edvard
Thursday, 03 June 2010 09:14

droid-xtreme2 Lots of leaks this week. This time the seemingly next high end Android device from Motorola. Judging from the specifications and form factor it seems to be competing pretty directly with the HTC Desire.

  • 4.1 inch capacitive touch screen
  • 8GB internal memory
  • 700 MHz OMAP 3630 processor
  • Android 2.2 (Froyo)
  • HDMI Out
  • No Motoblur interface (thank you Motorola).

So judging from the specifications and pictures, what do you think?

Another picture after the break

Google dropping Windows for security reasons
Written by Edvard

VBK-GOOGLE_84724f Earlier this week Google announced that they were phasing out internal use of Windows and jumping completely over to Open source Linux and OSX instead. The supposed reason for this move is security and probably more specifically the Internet Explorer 6 Aurora exploit that hit Google hard earlier this year.

Personally, I am delighted over the news but I can easily tell that security reasons is most likely not the main reason for this move.

Meet the HTC Vision, Desire with a keyboard!
Written by Edvard

4022-4bf9c9f1f212f So, I am sure most of you know how much I am eagerly awaiting a high-end Android device with an awesome qwerty keyboard to go with it? Seems like all that we have been seeing the last couple of years are touch screen only devices, Magic, Hero, Nexus One, Desire, etc, but HTC has now officially stated that they are working on Android qwerty devices and the rumored HTC Vision seems to be the most promising.

This news is a few days old, but it has me so excited that it deserves a post here as well!

Not much is known about the Vision, except that it wont be exclusive to the USA, so us Europeans and other world inhabitants can get our claws on it as well. WVGA display (480x800), QWERTY, and Android, its all there. No word on the release date, but my totally random guess would be some time late this summer.

In case you cant tell, I am getting one of these!

Ps: Im back from the military exercise, so expect more activity on the site and forums now :)

Android 2.2 comes with JIT! Say hello to performance
Written by Edvard

android-logo As most of you may have heard already, Android 2.2 (Froyo) has been released and it brings with it some pretty dramatic improvements and changes, especially under the hood. The one I find the most exciting is the inclusion of JIT (Just in Time) Compiler to the Dalvik VM which puts Android on steroids and gives vastly improved performance on certain areas.

So what is all this fuzz about? Well, read on for more details.

Comment system disabled. New system in development
Written by Edvard
Wednesday, 26 May 2010 16:42

comments_image The comment system has been disabled due to large amounts of spam. I earlier had to disable the CAPTCHA protection but the amounts of spam that has come with increased traffic on the site has forced me to disable it. I am now working on a new system which will integrate the discussion forum instead so that comments will actually be submitted as posts on the forums.

For now, I will stick to creating forum topics for each news post which I then link to at the bottom of the article so that they can be easily discussed!

Sorry for any inconvenience.
