Meet the HTC Vision, Desire with a keyboard!
Written by Edvard

4022-4bf9c9f1f212f So, I am sure most of you know how much I am eagerly awaiting a high-end Android device with an awesome qwerty keyboard to go with it? Seems like all that we have been seeing the last couple of years are touch screen only devices, Magic, Hero, Nexus One, Desire, etc, but HTC has now officially stated that they are working on Android qwerty devices and the rumored HTC Vision seems to be the most promising.

This news is a few days old, but it has me so excited that it deserves a post here as well!

Not much is known about the Vision, except that it wont be exclusive to the USA, so us Europeans and other world inhabitants can get our claws on it as well. WVGA display (480x800), QWERTY, and Android, its all there. No word on the release date, but my totally random guess would be some time late this summer.

In case you cant tell, I am getting one of these!

Ps: Im back from the military exercise, so expect more activity on the site and forums now :)

Written by Edvard

android-logo As most of you may have heard already, Android 2.2 (Froyo) has been released and it brings with it some pretty dramatic improvements and changes, especially under the hood. The one I find the most exciting is the inclusion of JIT (Just in Time) Compiler to the Dalvik VM which puts Android on steroids and gives vastly improved performance on certain areas.

So what is all this fuzz about? Well, read on for more details.

Comment system disabled. New system in development
Written by Edvard

comments_image The comment system has been disabled due to large amounts of spam. I earlier had to disable the CAPTCHA protection but the amounts of spam that has come with increased traffic on the site has forced me to disable it. I am now working on a new system which will integrate the discussion forum instead so that comments will actually be submitted as posts on the forums.

For now, I will stick to creating forum topics for each news post which I then link to at the bottom of the article so that they can be easily discussed!

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Chrome 5 released
Written by Edvard
Wednesday, 26 May 2010 16:37

chrome_logo So, Chrome has finally left the beta stage for OSX and Linux (and Windows of course). New in this version is an improved Javascript engine, a new bookmark management tool as well as integrated sync for settings and more.

Chrome 5.0 has also got support for more HTML5 features, such as as a programming interface for geolocation, App Cache, web sockets and click and drag files.

I had the Chrome 5 beta on Ubuntu 10.04, but it didnt update automatically to this non-beta version so I had to check out the software center to go and get it.

Anyways, to download the Latest Chrome, use the links below:

Windows

OSX

Linux

Spotify offers updated! Invites available (but not needed)
Written by Edvard
Wednesday, 19 May 2010 05:56

e584c_Spotify-logo The Spotify software was recently updated with lots of new features. Just yesterday, the popular music service launched two new offer models. One being free while the other giving unlimited access to music 24 hours a day.

Spotify Open

This is one of the two new offers. Spotify Open gives access to all users without the need for an invite. However, there is a 20 hour listening limit per month.

Spotify Ulimited

This is the other new offer. It givues you unlimited access to the music service without comercials. However, it doesnt offer the same audio quality as Spotify Premium and does not have the exclusive content.

Spotify Premium

Spotify Premium is their most expensive service. But it gives you Spotify on your phone, offline playlists, better audio quality and a wider selection of music.

Spotify Free

This is the free version that requires an invite. Its similar to Spotify Open but without the listening limitations.

For a more detailed comparison between the different versions, read here

I have a few invites to hand out, so if you want to give Spotify a try, check out the Spotify Invite thread on the forums

Written by Edvard
Wednesday, 19 May 2010 02:26

gps I must admit I am a few days late with this, but the new rootfs, available from the autobuild service. The big new bang here is that GPS is now working, thanks to phhusson , cr2 and jonpry. This leaves only the camera to be desired, meaning Android is now running fairly well on the Raphael, Diamond and Blackstone, with the Rhodium and Topaz not far behind!

Go grab it now!

Chrome OS featured computers two weeks away?
Written by Edvard
Wednesday, 19 May 2010 02:08

chrome_os_overview0 Its been previously rumored that Acer will be the first computer manufacturer to offer computers running Google Chrome OS. According to venturebeat.com, Acer will be ready with their first units in two weeks already. What kind of units we should be expecting is unknown but they are supposedly running Chrome OS.

Chrome OS has a planned release some time during the second half of 2010, but we will probably not be seeing these Acer computers before then unless Chrome OS gets released earlier than expected.

I am personally very curious as to how Chrome OS turns out. Maybe we will find out very soon!
