Seeing Android 2.2 just recently being released officially, how fitting is it not that we now have some details on Android 3.0 from Eldar Murtazin. According to him, Android 3.0 will feature a completely redesigned user interface based and inspired by the 3D gallery app that came with Eclair (2.0) which I must admit sounds like great news. This will be the first major interface overhaul since Android was launched.

Other than that we can expect support for higher resolution (1280 x 760) but not much is known apart from that.

Android 3.0 will have higher hardware requirements compared to earlierĀ iterationsĀ of Android though so low end devices will be stuck with Android 2.1/2.2. Supposedly the hardware requirements include a 3.5-inch display, a 1GHz processor, and 512MB of RAM.

We will supposedly be seeing the first devices running 3.0 is October this year so it will be very interesting to see what HTC and the others can come up with. (*cough cough* HTC Vision *cough*)
